My name is Marc R. Sherland. I am a Scottish Poet, working in Glasgow. Click to see some of my work or visit As a Celtic poet, I am influenced by the beautiful landscapes of the "celtic" homeland, but am also aware of and respond to the modern world in which I live. Born in Sheerness, Kent, England, my family relocated to Scotland, when I was two years old. Studying with the open university I am in the forth year of working towards a degree in the Humanities. I am a humanist who is very influenced by the way of life known as Zen or 'dharma' sometimes known (incorrectly) as Buddhism. My work is frequently influenced by pan-religious philosophies. The background picture was taken during the 2005 National Poetry Day Celebration at Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow.
